Tricolor ground cover. All parts are edible. Gingery to cilantro like taste and herbal scent. Good in oriental cooking and salsa like dishes. Has medicinal purposes too, prepared as a tea. Often planted with tulips and daffodils so when they fade Houttuynia grows to take their place. Plant runs freely; grow where spreading is not a problem. New planting space 1' apart. In some instances folks report the plant as being invasive. Sites like Dave's Garden has other peoples experience. Zones 3-8.

Native to the SW, aloe is usually grown in pots in the eastern US for its medicinal uses. A good choice for a house plant with size controlled by the pots size.
