Shenandoah Pear
Pyrus communis L.Shenandoah is a new, large and luscious European type pear, more blight resistance than Bartlett. Flavor similar to Bartlett but fruits are larger and can store for up to five months.

Shenandoah Pear
Shenandoah was released by the US Department of Agriculture and The Ohio State University in 2003 as a fresh market pear for commercial and home orchards. Spicy aromatic fruit flavor, long storage life, large fruit size and consistent yields. Skin color at harvest is light green with 10% to 25% red blush. The skin turns yellow green and glossy when ripe.
When harvested firm but optimally mature, the fruit will ripen without post harvest chilling. About 5 to 10 days to soft eating ripeness, depending on harvest date. The flavor is sweet and aromatic, but acidity is also high at harvest and during the first 2 months after harvest, thereafter decreasing so that the overall character is sub acid. Average yield beginning in the fourth year after planting have been moderately high.
