Spring Satin Plumcot
Armeniaca vulgaris x Prunus species
Spring Satin is a large, high quality, early ripening plum apricot hybrid that is well adapted to the humid climate of the southeastern US. Most new introductions of Plumcot are from California and are much more adapted there than the east coast. Blooms early with All Red, Aycock, and AU Rosa plums for pollination, but is also partially self fertile. For landscape effect Nanking bush cherries bloom at the same time. Spring Satin has a reddish-black skin, flesh is yellow-red and high quality. The tree resists bacterial spot and canker. Very susceptible to plum cucurlio. Height 8 to 15'. Space 12' circle Zone 6-8.
