Olinda originated in California in 1939. Growers are interested in Olinda because at times it has given a harvest two times the size of Valencia. Olinda adapts well to varying conditions. It tolerates high heat and dryness better than other varieties. The fruit are smooth, of fine quality, thin-skinned and full of juice.
