Freedom Apple (Malus domestica)

Freedom is a highly disease-resistant apple variety developed for home orchards and low-spray growing. The medium to large fruit has bright red skin over a yellow background with crisp, juicy flesh and a pleasantly balanced sweet-tart flavor. Excellent for fresh eating, cider, cooking, and storage.

This vigorous and productive tree is especially valued for its strong resistance to apple scab, cedar apple rust, fire blight, and powdery mildew, making it one of the best choices for organic and backyard growers. Trees bear reliable crops and are adaptable to a wide range of climates. Fruit ripens in mid to late season and stores well under refrigeration.

Freedom apples perform best in full sun with well-drained soil. Trees are hardy, easy to grow, and benefit from annual pruning for best fruit production and air circulation. Hardy in Zones 4–8. Mature trees on standard rootstock typically reach 15–20 feet in height, though final size depends on rootstock selection.
