Prunus amygdalus Communis x Persica (Hall’s Hardy Almond)
Due to import restrictions, we are unable to ship Almond to California.
Hall’s Hardy Almond is a fine ornamental tree with large, showy pink blossoms. It is a cross between almond and peach, producing nuts that are not paper-shell and are similar to a peach seed. The hard, green flesh around the nut splits, allowing the seed to drop much like almonds do. This variety is highly adaptable, particularly to East Coast conditions, where almonds typically struggle to grow. While almonds thrive in California and parts of Texas, Hall’s Hardy Almond can also grow well in the eastern states. The nuts have a delicious flavor with a hint of bitter almond. The trees resemble peach trees and can be pruned to an open vase shape for easier harvesting. Space 12' circle; tree height is about 8' with annual pruning. Hardy in Zones 5-8.
