Chaenomeles speciosa ‘Toyo Nishiki’ — Toyo Nishiki Flowering Quince
Toyo Nishiki is a compact ornamental shrub valued for its striking early‑spring blooms and later edible fruit. Flowering is showy: on a single plant, flowers of pink, white, and sometimes red may appear simultaneously, creating a multicolored display. After flowering, the shrub produces quince‑type fruits that can be used for jams, jellies, and preserves. With its moderate size and attractive habit, it works well in hedges, mixed shrub borders, or as a specimen plant. Typical space requirement is a 6‑ft circle. Hardy to approx. USDA Zones 5–8.
