Pyrus communis X – Honeysweet Pear

Honeysweet Pear, introduced by Purdue University, is known for its superior flavor, appearance, and disease resistance. This high-quality "Seckel or sugar pear" type is larger than Seckel and is one of the few self-pollinating pear varieties. The tree is similar to Seckel in that it is a natural dwarf. Honeysweet ripens in late August and has good storage ability.
Mature Size:
Space 10-12' in a circular area.
Pollination:
Self-fertile.
Disease Resistance:
More resistant to fire blight than Seckel, with resistance similar to Kieffer pear. It also resists leaf spot problems.
Zones:
Best suited for Zones 5-8.
