A reliable, cold-hardy nut tree selected for improved nut quality, productivity, and disease resistance. Improved Chinese Chestnut produces large, glossy brown nuts with sweet, rich flavor—excellent for roasting, baking, or fresh eating. Nuts typically ripen in early to mid-fall and drop naturally when ready for harvest.
Trees have a broad, spreading habit and are well-adapted to a range of soils, including lighter or less fertile sites once established. Known for strong resistance to chestnut blight, making it one of the best choices for home growers and small orchards in the eastern United States.
Plant in full sun for best growth and nut production. While some selections may have partial self-fertility, planting two different seedlings or cultivars will greatly improve yields.
