Black Currant
We introduced jostaberry to the U.S. some years ago and have been very pleased with its productive, low-maintenance growth habit. Members of the Ribes family (gooseberries, jostaberries, and currants) perform best in our region of Virginia when given partial shade and good soil. In southern climates, plants grown in full sun may lose their leaves in late summer but will recover the following spring. While they tolerate neglect, a little care goes a long way in improving growth and fruiting.
Some states have restrictions on currants and gooseberries, and in certain cases, these restrictions vary by county. There may also be regulations regarding planting near white pine. Please check local guidelines before ordering. Because restrictions can differ by county, we are not responsible for shipments requested to restricted areas. Thank you for your understanding.
