Introduction from the Czech Republic. ‘Bordowatta’ is a Nanking bush cherry selection valued for its deep red fruit, cold hardiness, and dependable production. In early spring, the shrub is covered in delicate white blossoms, followed by abundant bright red cherries in early summer.
The fruit has a rich, sweet-tart flavor and is excellent for fresh eating, pies, jams, jellies, and juice. Like other Nanking cherries, ‘Bordowatta’ forms a dense, multi-stemmed shrub that works well as an edible hedge, windbreak, or wildlife planting.
