Kakariki Feijoa (Acca sellowiana)

Kakariki is a productive feijoa variety known for its excellent flavor, attractive evergreen foliage, and dependable crops. The oval green fruit has sweet, aromatic flesh with tropical notes of pineapple, guava, and mint. Fruit is highly fragrant and excellent for fresh eating, desserts, smoothies, and preserves.

This vigorous evergreen shrub forms a dense, attractive plant with silvery undersides on its leaves and showy edible flowers in spring. Kakariki is valued both as an ornamental landscape plant and as a productive fruiting variety. The flowers attract pollinators and the colorful petals are edible with a sweet flavor.

Feijoas thrive in mild climates and perform best in full sun with well-drained soil. Once established they are drought tolerant and require minimal care. Kakariki is productive and may produce heavier crops when planted with another feijoa variety for cross-pollination. Hardy in Zones 8–10. Mature plants typically reach 8–12 feet in height with a similar spread, though they respond well to pruning.
