Vitus rotundifolia x vinifera
This vine is highly recommended for home plantings due to its self-fertility, good flavor, and ornamental cut leaf pattern. Compared to popular muscadine grapes, it shares attributes like vigor, disease resistance, and even ripening. The harvest period is mid-season to late, with varieties like Sugargate ripening about a month earlier. It thrives in USDA hardiness zones 7-9.

Southern Home Grape
Introduced in 1994 by J. Mortenson, J. Harris, D. Hopkins, and P. Anderson of the University of Florida, Southern Home is a unique muscadine cultivar. It is a complex hybrid of Vitis rotundifolia, V. popenoei, V. munsoniana, and V. vinifera. The first three species belong to the muscadine subgenus, while V. vinifera is the standard wine grape. The hybrid nature of Southern Home is evident in its cut leaf pattern.
