NC-1 Pawpaw
Asimina triloba - NC‑1 Pawpaw
Introduced in 1976 by grower‑enthusiast Doug Campbell near Niagara on the Lake, Ontario, Canada. NC‑1 is a hardy pawpaw cultivar selected for early ripening, fruit quality, and suitability to colder climates. Its fruit are large, with thin skin and relatively few seeds; NC‑1 typically ripens in mid‑September in Ontario and early September in more southerly sites. The tree is cold‑hardy and productive across appropriate zones. Space trees about 10 ft apart (10' circles). Hardiness: Zones 5–8
