Asimina triloba ‘Pennsylvania Gold’ – Pawpaw
Pennsylvania Gold is a very early-ripening pawpaw selection known for producing good crops of large, sweet fruit. The flesh is rich and custard-like with a tropical flavor profile often described as a blend of banana, mango, and melon. This cultivar is valued for its dependable productivity and early-season harvest window.
Trees are small to medium-sized and perform well in partially shaded woodland edges or full sun locations once established. Like most pawpaws, young plants benefit from some protection during establishment, after which they become relatively low-maintenance and long-lived.
Fruit ripens early in the season, helping extend the pawpaw harvest period. Trees are typically grown for both their edible fruit and ornamental value, including attractive tropical-looking foliage.
