A University of Maryland cross between ‘J.H. Hale’ and ‘Elberta’, Red Skin is a vigorous, productive peach known for large, high-quality freestone fruit. The yellow flesh is juicy and flavorful with a deep red blush over the skin. It is especially well suited for fresh eating, canning, and freezing. USDA Zones: 5–8
Trees are vigorous and form a productive canopy when properly pruned. Fruit ripens in summer and performs best in full sun with good air circulation. Regular pruning is important to maintain tree health and reduce disease pressure in humid climates.
Red Skin is self-fertile and typically begins bearing at a young age under good growing conditions. It is a reliable home orchard variety where peaches are well adapted.
