Prunus mexicana – Mexican Plum

Due to import restrictions, we are unable to ship Plums to CA, WA, Europe.

Mexican Plum is a native, single-trunked, non-suckering tree prized for its fragrant, showy white flowers that bloom in early spring before the leaves emerge. The ornamental foliage consists of large, deep-green leaves up to 5" long and 2" wide, providing excellent shade through the summer.

Fruits ripen from yellow to mauve between July and September, producing sweet, tart plums that are delicious fresh or in preserves. This tree is highly valued for its wildlife benefits, attracting pollinators in spring and providing food for birds and mammals in late summer.

Mexican Plum is a monoecious species with perfect flowers, meaning each flower contains both stamens and pistils. Bees are the principal pollinators, and while the species is often considered self-fertile, some botanists believe that cross-pollination with another tree may improve fruit set.

A tough and adaptable tree, it thrives in various soil types and is a great choice for low-maintenance landscapes.
