Vitus rotundifolia (Sugargate)

Sugargate is the earliest ripening muscadine variety, producing large clusters of very large, deep purple fruit with excellent flavor—up to 21% sugar in individual berries. This vigorously growing, productive vine is highly recommended by Professor John Clark of the University of Arkansas grape breeding program as an excellent choice for homeowners. It was a big hit at our Fall Fruit Day event. Sugargate is as bud-hardy as the Mars Seedless grape.
