Asparagus officinalis - Jersey Knight
Jersey Knight asparagus produces extra-large sprouts, as no energy is used for seed production. These highly productive male plants are disease-resistant and adaptable. For optimal growth, ensure the plant site has good drainage. Space plants 18 inches apart in 3-foot-wide perennial beds. Typically, our 2-inch potted asparagus are harvestable the following season. There's no need to dig ditches for planting; simply place them in your prepared bed like any other potted plant. Mulching helps to keep weeds under control. After harvest, the plants grow to about four feet tall and have an attractive, fine, fern-like appearance. Suitable for USDA Zones 3-10.
