Jahn's Prairie is a disease-resistant variety that produces high-quality, dark red dessert gooseberries. It was selected by Dr. Otto Jahn from a native population in Alberta, Canada.
- Fruit Characteristics: Green fruit turns red-pink upon ripening, with fresh fruit quality comparable to European gooseberries.
- Growth Habit: Upright growth reaching up to 5 feet, with some sprawling branches.
- Foliage: Leaves resemble those of European Hawthorne.
- Disease Resistance: Resists powdery mildew and is free from leaf spot and Botrytis (grey mold).
- Pest Resistance: No observed damage from aphids or sawflies; no White Pine Blister Rust detected.
