Amelanchier arborea ‘Mississippi Reese’ – Juneberry (Serviceberry)
Mississippi Reese is a selected Juneberry known for its reliable production of sweet, blueberry-like fruit and strong performance in a wide range of landscape conditions. The edible berries ripen in early summer, offering a pleasant, mildly sweet flavor that is excellent for fresh eating as well as pies, jams, jellies, and baking.
In early spring, plants are covered in showy white blossoms that provide outstanding ornamental value and support early-season pollinators. The fruit follows shortly after flowering, ripening to deep purple-blue clusters that are attractive to both people and wildlife.
This selection is adaptable and hardy, thriving in a variety of soil types and conditions once established. It performs well as a small multi-stem tree or large shrub, making it useful in edible landscapes, hedgerows, and native plantings.
