Amelanchier × grandiflora ‘Princess Diana’ – Serviceberry

Princess Diana is a graceful, spreading serviceberry selection valued for its ornamental beauty, strong landscape performance, and abundant edible fruit. This cultivar typically forms a single-trunked small tree or large multi-stem shrub reaching 12–15 feet in height with an elegant, open habit.

In early spring, plants are covered with masses of large white blossoms that often appear even on young plants, providing exceptional ornamental impact and supporting early pollinators. Following bloom, plants produce generous crops of large, purplish-red berries that are sweet and flavorful, excellent for fresh eating as well as pies, jams, and preserves.

Throughout the growing season, Princess Diana offers attractive green foliage that transitions to excellent red fall color, often persisting late into the season for extended ornamental interest.

Adaptable and hardy, this selection performs well in a wide range of soils and climates and is well suited for edible landscapes, native plantings, and ornamental food forests.
