Amelanchier alnifolia ‘Regent’ – Juneberry / Serviceberry / Saskatoon

Regent is a hardy, highly productive juneberry selection originating from South Dakota. This compact shrub produces abundant crops of sweet, blueberry-like fruit up to ½ inch in diameter, ripening in early June. The berries are excellent for fresh eating as well as pies, jams, and preserves.

In spring, plants are covered with profuse white blossoms that provide strong ornamental value and support pollinators. In fall, foliage turns attractive shades of red, extending seasonal interest. The combination of flowers, fruit, and fall color makes Regent an excellent all-season landscape plant.

Plants are naturally compact, typically reaching 4–6 feet tall and wide, making fruit easy to harvest. This variety is often planted in rows for edible hedges or as a focal fruiting shrub in the landscape.

Regent is generally trouble-free and performs well in a wide range of conditions, though some susceptibility to cedar apple rust has been reported in certain regions.
