Petite Pearl Grape (Vitis spp.)

Petite Pearl is a cold-hardy wine grape developed for northern vineyards and home growers seeking high-quality red wine production. This vigorous variety produces small to medium clusters of deep blue-black grapes that are rich in color, flavor, and tannins. It is especially valued for producing full-bodied red wines with notes of dark fruit, spice, and good aging potential.

The vines are highly productive and demonstrate excellent cold hardiness, making them well suited for regions where traditional European wine grapes struggle. Petite Pearl also exhibits good disease resistance and reliable fruit set, helping growers achieve consistent harvests with reduced spray requirements. Fruit ripens in mid to late season and develops excellent sugar levels while maintaining balanced acidity.

Petite Pearl performs best in full sun and well-drained soil. Strong growth and dependable cropping make it a favorite among both commercial and backyard winemakers. Hardy in Zones 4–8. Mature vines can spread 15–20 feet or more when grown on a trellis system.
