Ziziphus jujuba - Admiral Wilkes Jujube 

Admiral Wilkes is a productive jujube variety valued for its attractive fruit, excellent flavor, and exceptional adaptability. The medium to large fruit ripens from green to a rich mahogany-brown and can be enjoyed crisp like an apple when fresh. The fruits can also be processed as a confection similar to dates.

This vigorous, upright tree is highly productive and thrives in hot, dry summers where many other fruit trees struggle. Once established, Admiral Wilkes is remarkably drought tolerant and requires very little maintenance. Glossy green foliage, small fragrant flowers that attract pollinators, and attractive reddish-brown fruit make it an excellent ornamental as well as an edible landscape tree.

While Admiral Wilkes is self-fertile.  Trees perform best in full sun and well-drained soil. Mature trees typically reach 15–20 feet in height, upright and a spread of about 8' wide. Hardy in Zones 5–9.
