Citrus reticulata is one of the hardier citrus varieties that can be grown outdoors in USDA hardiness zone 8b. It is suitable for trial planting in regions such as coastal Carolina and southern Georgia. This mandarin type is grown from seedlings, and its fruits are pleasantly sweet for a hardy citrus. The plant typically reaches a height of 8 feet and should be spaced 8 to 10 feet apart. It also makes an excellent potted plant for indoor spaces.
