Prunus tomentosa - Denanka
Due to import restrictions Bush Cherry can not be shipped to California.
‘Denanka’ is a Nanking cherry selection from the Czech Republic, prized for its cold hardiness, productivity, and flavorful fruit. This hardy, multi-stemmed shrub is covered in delicate white blossoms in early spring, followed by abundant bright red cherries in early summer.
The fruit is small but plentiful, with a sweet-tart flavor excellent for fresh eating, jams, jellies, and juice. ‘Denanka’ is extremely hardy and well-suited to colder climates. It also makes an attractive edible hedge or wildlife-friendly planting. Denanka has some Prunus besseyi species crossed into Prunus tomentosa, which it exhibits mostly.
