Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck - Fukumoto Navel Orange
Due to import restrictions, Fukumoto Navel Orange cannot be shipped to CA, LA, TX, FL, PR, VI, or HI.
The Fukumoto Navel Orange is an early maturing Japanese selection, reaching legal maturity three to four weeks earlier than the Washington navel. It is recognized for its deep reddish rind color and typically harvested from mid-October to late December in California. The Fukumoto tree tends to be smaller and produces more chimeras than other navel varieties. It was imported from Japan by Dr. W. P. Bitters, who chose it for its appearance in Japanese produce displays.
