Rubus occidentalis - Jewel Black Raspberry

The Jewel black raspberry is a vigorous and erect plant that adapts well to various growing conditions. It produces large berries with excellent flavor, which ripen early in June, typically around the 5th at the nursery. The plants are visually appealing throughout the growing season, and in winter, the leafless canes turn a purplish-red hue. These canes often arch and touch the ground, where they can produce new plants.

Black raspberries are the first to ripen in spring, making them a great addition to any garden. Native to the United States, they can be found growing along fields, fences, and wooded areas. With proper care, including good soil, mulch, and adequate water, you can enjoy one of the best springtime treats.
