Martin is a chance seedling discovered and propagated by Amos Fisher of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. It was found growing naturally near Lancaster. This variety is known for its late blooming nature and hardiness, showing strong resistance to leaf curl and rarely developing brown rot.

The fruit is medium-sized, of very high quality, and excellent for both fresh eating and canning. Martin ripens approximately 20 days after Red Haven, making it a great choice for home gardeners looking to extend their harvest season.

While it lacks the red skin coloration typically desired for commercial production, its flavor and disease resistance make it a standout for personal orchards.
