Beautiful shrub produces Sechuan Peppers. Closely related to citrus than true peppercorns. Shoots, flowers, berries and seeds are all used in cooking. Beautiful plant with a contorted look and knobby branches. Full sun to partial shade with moist soil. Requires cross pollination with Sansho to produce.
The species is dioecious (individual flowers are either male or female, but only one sex is to be found on any one plant so both male and female plants must be grown if seed is required). . The plant is not self-fertile.
