Asimina triloba

Sunflower was found in the wild in Kansas by Milo Gibson in 1970. Sunflower is one of the largest fruited and most productive varieties there are and it is the latest ripening variety. Sunflower still fruits when all others are gone for the season so it is particularly nice for extending the season. Sunflower is the only self-fertile pawpaw that we know of, though fruiting success may be greater when accompanied by another variety. Space 12' circle. Zones 5-8.
