Takaka is a flavorful feijoa variety prized for its aromatic fruit, vigorous growth, and dependable production. The medium to large green fruit has juicy, fragrant flesh with a rich tropical flavor often compared to pineapple, guava, and strawberry. Fruit is excellent for fresh eating, desserts, juices, and preserves.

This attractive evergreen shrub features dense gray-green foliage with silvery undersides and beautiful spring flowers with edible petals. Takaka is valued both as an ornamental landscape plant and as a productive edible variety. Plants are vigorous, adaptable, and tolerant of a wide range of conditions once established.

Feijoas thrive in full sun with well-drained soil and are notably drought tolerant after establishment. Takaka may produce heavier crops when planted near another feijoa variety for cross-pollination. Hardy in Zones 8–10. Mature plants typically reach 8–12 feet in height with a similar spread but can be maintained smaller with pruning.
