Sambucus canadensis (Native Elderberry - York)
The York elderberry is a native variety similar to Nova, but it ripens its fruits a few weeks later. This shrub is care-free and can pollinate other native varieties. It should be spaced 8 feet apart in a circular pattern, with a height of 8 feet. It thrives in USDA Hardiness Zones 3 to 9.
