Tamopan is a unique, large-fruited Asian persimmon recognized for its distinctive flattened shape with a pronounced "ring" around the middle, giving it the appearance of a tomato wearing a hat. An astringent variety, the fruit should be allowed to soften completely before eating, when it develops a rich, sweet flavor. Excellent for fresh eating, baking into breads, puddings, and other desserts. Fruit ripens from October through November.

A vigorous, productive tree that performs best in full sun with well-drained soil. Self-fertile.
