The Maekawa Jiro is a small, cold-hardy tree that grows up to 12 feet tall. This variety ripens when it turns orange and can be enjoyed while its flesh is still firm, similar to an apple.

- Fruit Size & Quality: Large, usually seedless.
- Appearance: A handsome yard tree with a strong structure.
- Self-Fertile: Produces fruit without the need for another tree.
