Diospyros kaki – Sheng
Due to import restrictions, we are unable to ship Sheng Asian Persimmon to CA.
Sheng is an Asian persimmon known for its unusually large, high-quality fruit and attractive ornamental form. The tree has upright, irregular branching and produces exceptionally large, glossy green leaves with moderate fall color.
Fruit is typically 3–4 inches, orange, and flattened with a distinctive square shape and four lobes. It is among the largest persimmons of fine eating quality. The flesh is very sweet when fully ripe and must be allowed to soften completely before eating to avoid astringency. Once ripe, the fruit becomes soft, rich, and dessert-quality.
Trees are typically dwarf to semi-dwarf in size and fit well in smaller landscapes or home orchards. Plants are productive and ornamental, with fruit ripening in fall and often holding on the tree for an extended harvest window.
