Kyung Sun Ban Si Persimmon (Diospyros kaki)
Due to import restrictions, we are unable to ship persimmons to California.
Kyung Sun Ban Si is a Korean astringent persimmon valued for its attractive fruit, rich flavor, and excellent cold hardiness. The medium to large fruit develops a deep orange color with smooth, glossy skin and ripens in late fall. When fully softened, the flesh becomes sweet, rich, and jelly-like with excellent quality.
This vigorous tree is productive and dependable, producing handsome fruit that stores well after harvest. Like many traditional Asian persimmons, the fruit should be allowed to soften fully before eating to remove astringency. Trees are ornamental as well as productive, with glossy green foliage that develops beautiful orange-red fall color.
Kyung Sun Ban Si is well adapted to much of the eastern United States and is appreciated for its hardiness and reliable bearing habits. Plant in full sun with well-drained soil for best production. Hardy in Zones 6–9, 12 to 18'.
