Genovese basil is a popular cultivar of Ocimum basilicum (sweet basil), widely used in culinary dishes such as pesto, the traditional Genoese sauce. This annual plant should be spaced in an 18-inch circle. Five plants will provide enough basil for fresh pesto and for freezing to use throughout the winter. Best suited for Zones 6-10.
