Spearmint is a vigorously growing, perennial, aromatic herb with a variety of uses in the home garden and kitchen. Pollinators will flock to it's blooms throughout the season. Leaves can be harvested and used fresh to make tea, garnish a dessert, chopped in a salad, blended in a dressing or sauce, or used to brighten up a warm noodle or stir-fry type dish. Leaves can also be dried and used for tea. As with all mints, spearmint is best kept in a pot or container as it will spread with vigor if left unchecked.

Harvesting regularly will encourage the plant to maintain a healthy, bushy form. Cut a sprig just above a node and marvel at how fast new growth appears. Not using all that you've harvested? Store the springs in a cup with water on your countertop (if you forget about it long enough, you'll probably see roots appear from a lower node, as mint is very easy to propagate.) Zone 4-10.
